When General Worth's Family Came Home to Fort Worth
"Hi Carlo, I'm the great-great-great granddaughter of General William Jenkins Worth. Your city is named after him."
Imagine my surprise to receive such an email.
Two years later, the City of Fort Worth welcomed General Worth's family who donated his US Army uniform (worn from 1812-1849 until his death), hat, epaulets, and field desk which are now on display at new City Hall.
Special thanks to General Worth's descendants, the Sprague family, the Fort Worth Museum of Science and History, Mayor Mattie Parker, Bethany K. Warner, CPC, and city staff who put together an incredible program to honor the history of our city.
